Immigration, a message to my elected officials

I am strongly opposed to the currently proposed, so-called ‘Comprehensive Immigration’ bill.  Why can a person who has illegally entered this country receive a blanket amnesty allowing for citizenship, when legal immigrants need to wait over 7 tax-paying years to obtain citizenship?  Why should an entire category of law-breaking individuals get a blank check out of paying the taxes that each and every one of us legal citizens and residents pay?  This is not just about fair apportionment of costs, but also the concept of equality under the law.

I am not for the current immigration policies, as a matter of fact, I am currently opposed to them, as well as to the majority of the currently over-sized, bloated federal bureaucracy.  I don’t recall ever asking the government to be my baby-sitter, limiting the activities I can participate in that harm no one but, conceivably, myself.  However, be that as it may, the laws as written are there, exist, and should be enforced AS IS.  If we can not enforce and uphold the current laws, what is to ensure that new laws will even be followed?  If the government can not even follow it’s own laws and regulations, nor enforce it’s own proclamations, and if the government does not even acknowledge it’s inadequacy, what are we, the citizens, to think?
